The offshore world is moving in order to calm investors. Jersey moved to establish a protection scheme – although only for residents, Switzerland is to match the EU-Scheme and Gibraltar, as a member of the EU, is to increase the amount protected by its scheme in accordance with new EU-obligations for member states. And the Isle of Man is increasing its own scheme to GBP 50,000. Probably, the best place to put money offshore is in branches of EU or Swiss banks, which are covered by their home member state guarantee schemes.
